Acknowledged by many as the act single-handedly responsible for turning a younger demographic of Australians onto country music James combined the story-telling ethos of country icon Slim Dusty with a more rock orientated approach influenced by his love of acts such as John Mellencamp, The Band and The Angels.
He was the first young Australian country artist to create an impact on the pop charts and for many years was the nation’s highest selling country artist. James was also the first Australian country act to sign a major label recording deal in Nashville paving the way for the likes of Keith Urban, Kasey Chambers and others.
In addition to his own success he has penned hits for Lee Kernaghan, Slim Dusty and Jimmy Little. Country singer-songwriter Hayley Marsten has been described as a ‘Country music sass goddess’ by MusicIsMyMuse.com. The Gladstone born and raised songstress released her debut EP “Even” in 2015 with Bill Chambers, to two sold-out shows.
Her own unique musical and song-writing style of ‘modern country and western’ is inspired by strong women of country, taking lead from the likes of Loretta Lynn, Kacey Musgraves and Miranda Lambert and adding her own spin of wit, sass and honesty into her lyrics.
She started 2016 with a bang, graduating from the CMAA Academy Of Country Music, playing her first and jam-packed Tamworth Country Music Festival, performing at the celebrated Tamworth Town Hall in the Toyota Star Maker competition and releasing her second single ‘On The Rocks’, which is currently climbing the Country Tracks Chart. With the second sing “Fluoro Collar” also topping charts. His latest single is the Epic love story “We Knew” a duet with his amazingly talented wife Rebecca Lee Nye.

Missy Lancaster is a country singer who at 21-years of age has hit the ground running with her fresh and genuine style landing her performance spots alongside Australian superstars such as The McClymonts, Troy Cassar-Daley and Adam Harvey.
Missy released her debut EP ’Til I Figure It Out (produced by Simon Johnson) at the 2015 Tamworth Country Music Festival with the independently released set reaching #1 on the iTunes Country album chart and marking a leap forward from busking on Peel St just twelve months earlier. Missy kept up the momentum throughout 2015, performing over 60 shows including appearances at the Birdsville Races and Hats Off to Country Festival.
In October 2015, Missy travelled to Nashville to write and record her second EP with acclaimed songwriter and producer Lindsay Rimes handling production. Lindsay has a long list of credits including songwriting and production for gold and platinum artists such as LoCash, Jana Kramer, Tina Arena, Lee Kernaghan, The McClymonts, Troye Sivan, Reece Mastin, Taylor Henderson, Shannon Noll and Timomatic. Highlights of the trip included co-writing with Stephen Barker-Liles (Love and Theft), Jason Duke (Kelsea Ballerini “Dibs”), Matt Scullion and Morgan Evans along with performing at the famed Bluebird Café.
The new EP, simply titled Missy, was released on January 20, 2016 and debuted at #9 on the ARIA (Australian Record Industry Association) Country Album chart. It7 also reached #3 on the AIR (Australian Independent Record Labels Association) Album Chart behind international stars Courtney Barnett and SIA. This was a huge result for a 100% independent Australian Country Artist. Missy is currently undertaking extensive touring around Australia and is writing for her next release.

Iain Archibald Band
Iain Archibald Band is a fresh, exciting & entertaining 4-piece hailing from Melbourne. They’re the only band blending their hometown influence of ‘Aussie Rock & US Country.’
The band is fronted by singer, songwriter & lead guitarist Iain Archibald, who has been penning & playing his unique blend of Aussie Rock & US Country since 2009, with co-writes including Troy Kemp & Damien Baguley (Viper Creek Band). The band has a one-of-a-kind sound & show, with 4 vocalists & Iain’s engaging take as frontman, their show includes every patron in the venue.
For their second 5 track EP ‘New Life,’ IAB took it up a notch & employed hit country producer Simon Johnson to record at Cellar Music & Hillbilly Hut. New Life came complete with a video clip filmed by country experts The Filmery, Josh Favarolo & Duncan Toombs (currently on CMC).
Jade Martin Band
Jade Martin Band or ‘JMB’ are a 5-piece band hailing from Cobar in western NSW. Formally a duo, singer/guitarist Jade Martin enlisted bassist Mark Kotynia, guitarist Jesse Cartner and drummer Gavin O’Donnell in 2012 to bolster JMB’s sound and elevate them into the live music scene.
Influenced by artists such as Keith Urban, Lady Antebellum, John Farnham and Darius Rucker, JMB cover a vast range of music from Chris Young to Brad Paisley, Noise Works to Van Halen. After entertaining the local scene for many years, JMB have taken their act on the road.
As a duo, Jade Martin was accompanied by Jade Buckman and released a self-titled EP in September 2012. They also released a music video for their song “So Much Hurt”.
Following from the 2012 effort, in 2014 a new EP titled ‘Show Me How to Party’ was created, being entirely recorded and mixed by Jade himself.
The EP included 2 new songs, ‘Nothing I Want More’ and ‘Show Me How to Party’ (written with the help of Harry Nanos and Gavin O’Donnell) and 2 songs from the 2012 EP were re-recorded and given a more modern country sound.
The ‘Show Me How to Party’ EP was released in line with the 2015 Elmore BNS Ball, and was used in the advertising and promotional material for the event. The film clip for ‘Show Me How to Party’ was also released on the Country Music Channel in February 2015.
Since playing at the ’15 Elmore BNS Ball the Jade Martin Band have become a sort after act, gaining support positions for bands such as The Wolfe Brothers, Mental As Anything, Pseudo Echo and Diesel.
At the 2016 Tamworth Country Music Festival many marked JMB as the ‘must see’ band of the festival. JMB guitarist and vocalist Kahlia Martin also graduated from the CMAA Academy of Country Music in 2016, where she gained a wealth of skills and knowledge from industry veteran’s including Catherine Britt, Lyn Bowtell, Roger Corbett, Simon Johnson and Kevin Bennett.
Rebecca Lee Nye
Rebecca Lee Nye is a multi award winning singer songwriter with a unmistakable depth and tone that will leave you breathless, her warmth and emotion takes you on a journey through her songs.
In 2005 she released her debut Ep “I started Living” and her first single “It’s a Heartache” went to number 11 on the National Country Tracks top 40 Chart.
After taking some time off to raise a family, the multi award winning singer, wife and mother of 3 is back with more wisdom and passion than ever.
Her new album “Gypsy Heart” is a consummate country album. With this beautiful voice coupled with the original highly crafted songs, exquisite musicianship and world class production, this album with be a landmark release for 2016.
DENI SHOWCASE SPECTACULAR
Heidi Moncrieff has an unmistakeable voice that evokes people to listen. The timbre of her voice is warm, resonant and deep. There is a smoothness to her tone that lends to all the music genres that she covers. At the age of 17, Heidi has been one very busy musician in her hometown of Echuca and Moama. From regular gigs at the Echuca Star Hotel, Gypsy Bar, Moama RSL to private functions throughout Victoria and New South Wales, Heidi never has a weekend that does not involve slinging the guitar strap on.
Her musical influence runs deep with Johnny Cash. With simply the guitar and a voice that can tell a story with as much resonance as Cash’s could, it’s the perfect ingredient for inspiration! Her gigs will always cover favourites of the country scene, such as ‘The Gambler’, Dixie Chicks’ ‘Travelling Soldier’ and of course ‘Ring of Fire’. And then add John Denver, Bryan Adams and her personal favourite, the well known ‘Hallelujah’ by Leonard Cohen.
This is Heidi’s first year invited to join the Deni Ute Muster Showcase and her excitement is beyond words!! All she can say is….. ‘Bring it on’!!
Anna Bowie is a local Deni girl who has been playing music and singing from age 5. She has played at local weddings, parties and concerts. In January Anna attended a one week Talent Development Program Workshop in Sydney through the NSW DET. She is looking forward to returning to Sydney in July for another TDP workshop.
Anna has played at two Deni Ute Musters and can’t wait to play at her third.
Jaime Blake is 17 years old and in Year 12 at Deniliquin High School.
She studies HSC Music and is tutored by Chris Bodey.
This is Jaime’s third appearance at the Deni Ute Muster. Other performances have included community concerts such as Carols by Candlelight, Open Mic Musician Nights and school performances.
Her strong vocal talents are well complemented by her skills on the acoustic guitar.
A strong passion for classic rock and country music has lead to the development of her unique sound. Major influences on her musical development have included artists such as Missy Higgins and Taylor Swift.
The NorWesters are a young band from Deniliquin. All the members are currently at high school and have a passion for all things music. These kids are definitely one to watch.

The Bush Poets
The Bush Poets have a diverse group to choose from that ensure their success. One of those talents are a singing poet – Graeme Dick who has to be heard to appreciate his talent. The have a hard core of experienced poets both male and female to keep the audience entertained.
They hope once again to have some junior members to perform. This year they will be inviting any members of the audience who would like to share their talent to joining them on stage. This is similar to a poets breakfast and a lot of great new talent is often unearthed on these occasions.

Since breaking onto the Australian Music Scene in 2012, Trainwreck Trio has performed at all the biggest roots festivals in Australia, including the Gympie Muster, Tamworth Country Music Festival, Deni Blues & Roots Festival, Mud Bulls & Music & Caboolture Urban Fest.
Originally formed as a ‘party’ band playing cover music, Trainwreck Trio’s first release ‘Chaos at Crowbar’ (2013) was a collection of the band’s most popular live cover tracks. However, with growing momentum, the band released a first original EP (2015), including live anthems ‘Rock Star’ & ‘Do you wanna?’.
In 2015 Trainwreck Trio embarked on a first tour of Europe & Japan, & then again in 2016 including appearances at Interlaken Trucker Fest (Switzerland), Triumph Tridays Festival (Austria), American Journeys Festival (France), Ingolstadt Blues Festival (Germany) & Festivities de la Gare Cambrai (France). The band also played two shows in Tokyo (Japan) on this tour, including one show at the legendary Harajuku venue ‘Crocodile’.
With an even bigger World Tour planned for 2017, Trainwreck Trio has no plans to slow down anytime soon!
