On October 2, 1999, Deniliquin wrote itself in to history claiming the Guinness World Records title for the largest parade of legally registered utes in the world with 2,839 utes taking part.
Since then the Festival has reached new heights with over 10,000 counted at the Festival in 2010!
Every year, a team of counters covers every square metre of the Festival site and physically counts each and every ute on the site!
The official ute count takes place throughout the Festival site at 8am Saturday and the result is announced on the Country Energy Main Stage that night.
In 2011 6998 utes were counted on the Festival site. We think this is a new world record for the most number of muddied and bogged utes!
To qualify for an official new Guinness World Record, a parade of utes over a specified distance must be undertaken with strict GWR guidelines and judging, and in 2009, the planned parade attempt had to be abandoned due to wet weather.
We will try again at some stage to qualify for another official listing in GWR, but until we can work out the logistics, we will continue to have our own World Record Ute Count!
Guinness World Record Blue Singlet Count
Our belief is that behind the wheel of every good looking ute - is a good looking Aussie wearing a blue singlet!
Since 2004, the Deni Ute Muster has staged a World Record Blue Singlet Count in the RM Williams Bull Ride arena.
In 2009 Festival organizers felt it was time to make the count an official Guinness World Record attempt being the largest gathering of people wearing shearers blue singlets. In 2010 we set a new GUINNESS WORLD RECORD of 3500 people!
The 2011 Nulon World Record Blue Singlet count was hampered by muddy, wet and cold conditions, but we still got 1728 blue singlet wearers into the Deni Freighters Sports Arena!!
